Want something in a hurry? Like options for your dog? Eddie's is the place to stop.
We try to come here a couple times a year as they do have good Smith beef hot dogs .... and have been coming here for years ...they have been here since 1947 .. they do one thing and do it well...FOOTLONG HOT DOGS.
For just under $4 you can get a foot long with your choice of toppings ( see pic for the options). They do have some options of combos ... and about $3 you can fresh cut fries ( we did not purchase this trip)
They are a nice family owned friendly establishment .. where kids can have fun creating their own and sit at picnic tables to enjoy. They are not a year round establishment ...pretty much summer months .. so check to see if they are open. -

I've been coming here since I was little, and it's always been so good! First of all, the value meals are a great price, and you get so much food. (They're about $7 for any footlong, fries, and a drink). The outdoor seating is probably the best part, though. It's a great place to come in the summer time with your family and even your dogs!
The hot dogs are huge & filling, and you can choose from various toppings. I like to keep it simple with just ketchup and onions, but the cheese sauce is delicious too. The fries are also very tasty, with a side of cheese sauce of course! I saw that they had some dessert options like frozen candy bars, which I think is perfect for a place like this!
Coming here is always a special experience for me. It's almost like you're going back in time when you eat here. There's really no other place like Eddie's anymore! -

Went here today on Labor Day. They were not busy. Two cashiers standing behind window doing nothing. The girl said I will be with you in a moment. My husband jokingly said maybe we should
Ask the other girl but she would be busy too. The first girl gave us a very nasty look. And we left.
Not good for business to be so rude. -

I've lived in this area all my life. When I was young, I remember my parents taking us there every once in a while, always followed by a trip to Hanks.
I remember it being SUCH a treat. We made footlongs at home that were great, but these dogs were worth buying. I used to watch the old men butter grilling the dogs at the window while waiting and smelling the aroma of what was waiting for me. I continued to go there a few times a year when I moved out on my own and had taken my children there to.
When their children took over, it was noticeable on a major scale. I had worked a lot and had missed my visits there for a few years. When I went back, I was still expecting the famous dogs that I loved.
NOPE.
First of all, the aroma was that of a boiled dog. I have NO idea what they did to that sauce, but it was awful. Not even a shadow of what I had had there throughout my life to that point. I sat down with my Grandson and even he didn't like it. I didn't even finish mine and gave it to the birds. I had a boiled dog that was slapped on the grill for a few seconds before serving. The sauce was just awful. I make better than that. I got a mere sprinkle of onions and the "cheese" sauce was that nasty fair stuff you get on nacho's. I used to see a loaded dog, now, the bun was the major visual. The bun.......the cheapest bun you can get. I feel sad for the area. I feel sad for the people that will never know how great it used to be, because it was. They are riding on their parent's good names and using cheap ingredients and hoping that no one will notice. We noticed.
Eddie and Winkie would not approve, I am sure. Now we skip Eddies, make them at home and then go right to Hanks. -

If you're coming to Meadville, this place is a MUST! EXCELLENT SMITHS HOT DOGS! AND their sauce is awesome! I never considered myself a "hot dog fan" but Eddie's COMPLETELY changed my outlook with their hot dogs!
